Shirley Holmes is the Regional Director of Southern Cape. Shirley’s journey into agility started when her daughter Chantal got her Border Collie. Tommy, in October 1996. Chantal’s friend was involved with the Garden Route Dog Club and each Saturday as Shirley watched Chantal train her dog in obedience and jumping,  it proved too much for her to just sit an watch.  Soon afterwards she got Scampy, a Border Collie from the same breeder as Tommy, and Mother and Daughter became rivals and training partners, and have shared the podium on many occasions.

In 2003 Shirley took over as RD of Southern Cape. Her region is small but is growing steadily with  younger handlers coming into the sport.
